Dr. Ernesto Javier Martínez is an interdisciplinary literary critic, an award-winning writer, and a professor in the Department of Indigenous, Race, and Ethnic Studies (IRES) at the University of Oregon.

His first short film, La Serenata, directed by Adelina Anthony, has earned multiple film festival awards and is now available on HBO. He began in children’s media as a mentee of Maya Gonzalez, with his book When We Love Someone We Sing to Them/ Cuando Amamos Cantamos, the first bilingual children’s book published in the United States about a boy who loves a boy.
